30 Weeks

Wow, so I really was out of it last week
as I labeled my post 8 weeks in the past!

Moving along...
Here are the this week's PADs:

Jan 14:
Growing Belly

Jan 15:
Sea World
Driving the "whale boat".

Jan 16:
Celebrate our favorite 5 year old's birthday!
Desi and E at Monkey Joes

Jan 17:
Mickey Hands!

Jan 18:
Using all his strength with the play doh machine.

Jan 19:
So happy while playing with Daisy.

Jan 20:
Organizing his fruit loops by colors.

We've had so much fun this week.
I say this on one hand with all seriousness,
on the other hand with complete sarcasm.
We've had days that are pure joy,
lots of laughing and fun.
Then we've had days with a bit of joy
and a lot of chaos, crying, whining and not listening
thrown in.
Those days are fun (the sarcastic kind).
Overall my kid is hilarious and keeps me laughing.
He is currently repeated everything,
let me repeat,
EVERYTHING
that he hears me say.
Today driving, I muttered under my breath,
"That's not... ugh... ok."
And my little parrot repeated it the whole way home.
Good thing I don't have bad road rage, huh?
(Ahem, Adam)
He loves, loves, loves positive attention.
So if he does something and we tell him he's smart or silly
he'll do it over and over and over,
looking for that praise again.
I don't mind hearing him repeat that the color of the book is orange
or the shape of the hat is a triangle.
If that what makes him happy, I'll tell him how proud I am all day long.
Because I am. :)
He's also really into doing things himself.
Whenever he doesn't want you to help he says,
"My turn". Which means, butt out.
Oh yes, he's chock full of cute developmental tidbits this week
but also of not sleeping.
The child is waking up every night now.
Sometimes he goes back to sleep on his own,
but last night he came crawling into our room at 1:30 am.
 I don't think so.
I have a hard enough time sleeping with the child growing inside me
kicking all night.
I don't need one kicking me from the outside too!
Speaking of our little Reese in the making...
I had my 30 week appointment today.
Elijah came with me and was sure to explain to the doctor
that "little sister is in mommy's belly".
You know, in case the doc didn't know. :)
Our c-section will be scheduled on March 29,
at either 7:30 or 9 am
(I'm voting on 9 am as we have to be there 2 hours ahead).
Her heartbeat sounds good
but she's measuring a little small -
28 weeks instead of 30.
The doctor said she's progressing so he's not worried
and she'll just be a small baby
but they're going to monitor and possibly do an ultrasound to check in on her.
I'm excited that the time is coming closer,
9 weeks, 5 days to go!

I can barely keep my eyes open so I'll leave you now
with some bonus pics!

Sweeping his slide,
he does not like having dirt, bugs or leaves on it.

Acorns.

 Picking flowers for mommy.

 His treasures.

Chalk face.

Saying hi to Shamu by himself!

One of the billions of trips down the slide.

All the stairs he had to climb each time.

Mmm.
Have I mentioned lately how grateful I am
to be able to go to Sea World and only spend $3 all day?

He put this on his head and told me it was his hat for cooking.

Even he thinks he's hilarious.

LOVES playing with our Daisy girl.

He told me he need gloves to cook on the stove,
when I told him I didn't think they had any
he put these on.

On the train at the Science Center.

Little fixer.

21 weeks & PAD Wk2

Howdy All!
This post will be short on words as I'm not feeling my best
but wanted to be sure to post this week's pics
from my Photo-A-Day "project".

Jan 6:
Elijah LOVES my red high heels.
When we went to play outside the other day,
E went into the closet and told me to wear these.

Jan 7:
E is really into fake cooking now.
These are the "birthday pies" he made us.
(We need to get him some play food! He's using Mr Potato Head parts)

Jan 8:
Big thanks to my mother-in-law, Susan
who threw Adam a great graduation party!
We had lots of fun celebrate his HUGE accomplishment!

Jan 9:
My boys
outside enjoying one of E's new favorite activities:
acorn throwing.

Jan 10:
Our kitchen table transformed into a reenactment
of the Toy Story trilogy.

Jan 11:
E's new potty chart!
We are working hard to get this done before Reese arrives.
I don't think we'll be there in 11 weeks,
but at least we will have started.

Jan 12:
Someone needs a haircut!

Jan 13:
Today he told me to count so he could hide.
When I walked out I found this.
He really thought I couldn't see him :)

I promise to post again with actual updates
and of course,
more pictures!

28 Weeks and Hello 2011!

Happy 2011!

I decided to do something a little different this year.
It's not a New Year's resolution, but I suppose similar.
Something I want to try and keep up all year.
Photo-A-Day blogging.
I take a lot of pictures.
But I might take 75 pics of E playing outside one day,
and then nothing for a week.
This year, I am going to try and take a photo a day
that we be a memory of what that time was like in our lives.
Here's what I've got so far for 2011:

Jan 1:
My first craft project completion of the year!
I have lots in the works and ideas in my head so hopefully this is the first of many.
It's for Elijah's room, to hang up his artwork.

Jan 2:
Yup. I'm getting a bit large.
Adam thought it would be funny to see if I could balance a small bowl on my belly.
Turns out, I can :)

Jan 3:
This picture describes my child right now in many ways.
1) Getting him to wear pants is a daily challenge.
2) We are obsessed with Toy Story, and this reminds him of Woody and Jesse.
3) That smile is wonderful. And we've been seeing a lot of it lately.

Jan 4:
Elijah and I went out (a rare occasion) to get a birthday present
and someone backed right into us.
Bummer.
E, R & I are all fine,
but my Jeep got a little banged up on the side.

Jan 5:
Blocks, blocks, blocks.
He LOVES to play with these blocks.
I'm not sure what it is, but something about watching him play with his blocks
is so soothing to me.
It's like the relaxing feeling I get when someone rubs my back.
He's so quiet and you could just see his mind working.
He'll place one block somewhere then decides that doesn't work and replace it with another.
Very few things capture my child's attention for such a time as these blocks do.

We've really been enjoying the year.
Elijah is talking so much every day.
The other morning at breakfast, we sat there for an hour while he ate a bowl of grapes
and he just talked and told me stories.
It's so wonderful and hilarious.
We went to Red Lobster the other day and E got to see the lobsters in the tank.
We told them they were like crabs.
First, he kept calling them "monsters".
We told him, "Say LOB... STERS".
So now he either says
"lob-monsters" or "crab monsters".
It's like when he says acorns...
he calls them "egg corns" (two words, he pauses).

Here are some other recent pics of him,
enjoying some of his Christmas presents
and playing outside.

Playing with his easel from Grandma
(Thank you Grandma!)

Playing on his tricycle from PawPaw
(Thank you PawPaw!)

And playing with his baseball set from Nana
(Thank you Nana!)

Little Adam:

In baby Reese news:
I went to the Dr yesterday for my 28 week appointment.
Had to do my glucose test and get another rhogam shot in my hiney
(good times!)
I now go every two weeks
(where has the time gone?!)
and my next appt, we schedule my c-section.
My due date in March 31
and Dr Snow has always said we'd probably schedule for the 29th.
Yesterday he said the same thing but added,
"You'll probably go into labor before that and we'll just go over and do it then."
Huh?
What?
Why?
No, no.
We're not even CLOSE to being ready for her yet.
She needs to wait until the 29th.
I thought that scheduling her arrival would mean I wouldn't have to worry about all this.
Sigh...
I guess not.
Time to get working on little sister preparations!
