3 for Three!

Here's my third post on my little one's birthday. Three posts for his third birthday? I like it.

I was so excited for Elijah's birthday. I had the best unplanned birthday planned. He was getting a "yes" day. You want cake for breakfast? Yes. Play outside until the sun goes down? Yes. Watch Lightning McQueen 10 times? Yes. You want it, you got it. It's a day every 3 year old dreams of and my poor kid barely got to enjoy it.

We started out with donuts at Bakery Plus.

Off to Target for 3 new dollar section treats.

Played outside in the afternoon until Daddy came home.

Made chocolate race car pretzels.

And Chick-fil-a for dinner.

I don't know if you can tell, but as the day went on Elijah got quite puny. He wasn't feeling well at all.
We weren't even done eating when he started running a fever and home we went to watch his new movie...
which he barely made a few minutes into.

Passed out at 5:30.

Didn't even have a cupcake or chocolate race car pretzel or anything.

The next day he woke up with raw spots around his nose and mouth and then suddenly (and I do mean SUDDENLY) he started breaking out in red dots all over his body.
Panic.
Got right to the doctor and it turned out he had impetigo on his face...

and hand-foot-mouth disease on the rest of his body.

Highly contagious. I never realized how many objects my child touches a day until I had to start Lysol-ing everything. He hands are ALWAYS touching something. Always.
Thankfully, no one else in the house caught any rashes, a week later his face cleared up and blisters are gone from his body. He still has red marks on his hands but nothing "active" anymore.
Praise God!

Party like a 3 year old

The saturday before Elijah's birthday we had a party for him at the house. He chose the theme: dinosaurs. It was the first time he had any say in his party and let me tell you, he was pretty specific. To the point where I hung up a birthday banner I made for him last year and he told me that wouldn't work because it didn't have dinosaurs on it. Oh yeah. So a couple hours before the party I was making dinosaur cutouts to use as decoration. I couldn't let down my birthday kid!

Birthday Boy

He loved his dinosaur hoodie! Ran around the yard pretending he was a dinosaur.

Mine and Adam's grandmothers.
Amazing women.

Dinosaur and #3 sugar cookies.
Let me add that Adam and I were up until almost midnight making the sweets for the party. The decorating got a wee bit sloppy towards the end.

Lemonade angel food cupcakes and funfetti cupcakes.
Elijah love lemonade. I mean LOVES it. So when I found a recipe for lemonade angel food cupcakes I thought I had really scored. Nope. Let him taste one and he didn't like it at all. Hence the addition of funfetti.

Chocolate cake balls. They were D.E.L.I.S.H. Yum.

I seriously love my chalkboard nook.

These would be the dinosaur cutouts that I was making right before the party.

The bug.

Elijah and Aiden playing in the dinosaur dig.

Dinosaurs!

Dinosaur dig was a huge hit!

Des and Elijah.

Emmy digging for dinos.

Aiden. So handsome!

Emery making screen faces.

Chris and brand new baby Chase.

Rockstar.

We love us some Aiden. Especially Reese.

4wheeler rides.

Baby Robert
(those EYES!)

Happy Birthday Handsome!

More dino dig fun.

Puzzles!

Elijah had such a good time with his friends and family & got LOADS of awesome gifts (which have come in very handy since we've been stuck in the house since his birthday... another post about that!)

Although it's crazy to think that Elijah is already three, in many ways this was the easiest birthday of his to process. He acts so grown up all the time that I actually have to stop and think, "wait a minute. He's ONLY three."

Happy 3rd Birthday Handsome

On Monday our sweet, handsome boy turned 3 years old.
Can you believe it?
Me neither.
We had a party for him on Saturday. He chose the theme - dinosaurs. It was great and he had such a good time with his friends and family. (Another post with pics to come.)

I found this cute idea (on Pintrest of course) where you take a photo of your child in front of a wall or something with lots of space around. Then you add information about your child around it. I decided to do it for E with all his favorite things at three years old. On three different days over the past week I asked him a series of questions. I did it three times because he is easily influenced by the things around him when answering a question. So here are the results:

Question 1: FOOD
Answer 1: Rice (which he was eating only for the second time ever); Answer 2: Eggs (which he saw on TV, he never eats eggs when I make them); Answer 3: Hot dogs (which he was eating when I asked) and bananas (which he could see on the counter)
Q2: COLOR
A1: Green; A2: Blue; A3: Orange
Q3: SONG
A1: ABC's; A2: ABC's; A3: ABC's
Q4: TV SHOW
A1: Phineas & Ferb; A2: Word World; A3: Super Why
Q5: MOVIE
A1: Lightning McQueen; A2: Buzz Lightyear; A3: Firefighter Mater
Q6: DRINK
A1: Applesauce; A2: Chocolate Milk; A3: Milk
Q7: TOY
A1: Blue Mater; A2: Buzz Lightyear & Woody; A3: Woody
Q8: BOOK
A1: I Love Tools; A2: Zoomer's Summer Snowstorm; A3: Alphabet Soup
Q9: PLACE TO GO:
A1: Sea World; A2: Sea World; A3: Sea World
Q10: FRIEND
A1: Mommy; A2: Mommy; A3: Mommy & Daddy (have I mentioned lately how much I adore him?)

So our consistencies were... he loves the ABC song, Sea World, Buzz & Woody and Mommy.

Conversation with an almost three year old

Today while playing in Elijah's room, I pulled him close and said, "Elijah, I can't believe you're going to be three years old in a couple days! I don't want you to have a birthday and grow up. I want you to stay my baby forever." At this Elijah got a little upset. With a stern look on his face and using his disapproving voice he said, "I have to grow up big like Daddy and Mommy." "But why?" I asked. "What do you need to grow up and do?"

"I have to grow up so I can do the laundry and clean the dishes and build big block towers!"

Who says stay at home moms don't have real jobs? Of all the superheroes, action figures and movie characters, my kid wants to grow up to be like me.

And build big block towers.

Happy Birthday to me (1 1/2 months ago!)

I started my "month of pictures" post a while ago but every time I tried, blogger denied me.
Too many photos I guess!
So, prepare yourself for many little posts with lots of photos!

We had lots of fun celebrating my birthday
(way back on Sept 29!)
despite getting the kids all ready to head out for our day of fun and the truck not starting.
Fortunately, I am blessed with an incredibly car-intelligent husband
who came home and fixed us up!

We went to Bakery Plus for breakfast lunch donuts...

There are very few things on earth more delicious than a BP donut with chocolate and sprinkles.

Next we went to Chick-fil-a for lunch after donut snack & playground playing.

Reese sat in the high chair for the first time!
So big and pretty :)

Elijah gave me the honor of wearing the Mickey Mouse birthday ears.

The boys made me a cake.
Since the cake was hot and the frosting wouldn't spread without the cake crumbling,
Adam decided to melt the frosting and pour it over the cake.
Now do you see why I do all the baking in the house?
(hehe) Love you babe!

And yes, we ate the cake for dinner.

And had s'mores for dessert!

Reese did not have any cake or s'mores with us.
"Whaaaaaat???"

And Elijah finished it off with a dance.

I love my little family
& I love birthdays!
