Feb 28: I hate snot, vomit and fevers

What else can I say? It has been four, count them, four weeks of sickness in the Teston house and I. Am. Over. It. One week ago today I was hit with the stomach virus, two weeks before that Elijah got it/severe cold, cough crud. February has just been the pits as far as sickness goes and I am passionatly looking forward to March and celebrating Reese's first birthday!

Feb 7: Bug's first illness

Poor Reesey Bug went to the dr today and has her first ear infections. That means she is on her first antibiotics. She also has a yeast rash on the backs of her legs so has a cream for that. Oh, does she just looove getting that put on. Not. Kids were super cute at the dr office though & E was thrilled that we weren't there for him.

Feb 6: Sick baby + very active toddler = exhausted mother

Today my sister & her fiancé Nick came over for lunch since they couldn't make it over for dinner last night. Elijah just loved having them over to play with. Reese is not feeling well and is super cranky so she was not very social and clung to me. A lot. She also has a rash behind her knees so we will be off to the doctor tomorrow!

Give Thanks

"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Today I am thankful for:
-Lysol wipes
-not mimicking my son after he vomited all over me
-my husband who rushed home to help his wife, sick child & baby girl
-a friend who can make me smile when I want to cry
-my sweet baby who laid quietly in her crib, snuggling with her blanket and babies, patiently waiting for her parents to finish with her sick brother
-Ms. Norris who always makes phone calls to the doctors office a little more endurable
-Always being able to count on a friend for prayers
-Healing that I know will come to my sweet boy.

And of course, Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies.

Feb 5: Superbowl Sunday!

I've never really been into football but my sweet brother got me hooked this season. I figure, I have a son who loves sports and my husband is not into it so someone needs to be. I asked my brother who I should go for and he said, "Packers, duh!" So that's who I went for. No other reason besides my brother, but it turned out to be a good pick! Unfortunately, they didn't make it to the Superbowl, but I was still pretty excited to watch. We were suppose to have my dad, sister and her fiance over for dinner but that fell through so we invited our friends Sylvia, Robbie and baby Robert over. Two weeks in a row hanging out with them on Sundays = score! Adam made BBQ ribs for the first time and they were super yummo! I also made some cornbread casserole and we attempted this crazy yummy chorizo/pepper/cheesey goodness stuff that Karlie's fiance Chris made for us before. It didn't turn out nearly as good as his but it was still pretty good. It was awesome hanging out, even though our little bug was very cranky. All day she was cranky. So bad at church that I had to take her outside. Not just outside the service, but outside the building. She was miserable. Oh, and the Giants beat the Patriots which meant that every team I went for after the Packers were out of the running lost. Haha, guess I won't be making any money off my new football interest! And I FINALLY got the hand of crocheting, something I have been attempting for years and could never get. Woo hoo! Thank you YouTube!

Feb 4: Officially a Soccer Mom

Today was Elijah's first day of soccer practice! Huge thanks to my partner in crime who found a place that accepts three year olds and wasn't going to cost us a dip into savings to pay for it (good gosh why are kids' sports so expensive?!). He loved it. I mean LOOOOOVED it. The only thing he doesn't get is that he's on a team with other kids. We're lost in the sharing idea and wants the ball all. the. time. After practive we took him to get a soccer ball and shin guards. When we got home he, of course, just wanted to play outside with his new soccer gear. This was perfect since I had created quite a honey-do-list of yard work yesterday. I made some super yummy, delicious cherry cheesecake cupcakes while the boys were outside.

Feb 3: Good ol' Famly Fun

Yesterday was 6 days straight that Elijah woke up dry. I told him that if he woke up dry today, we would go for donuts (we hadn't been in a week). I'm pretty sure I was most excited, and then, Elijah woke up wet so no donuts. BUMMER. But, I'm married to a pretty sweet guy so he went out and got me coffee from Starbucks (quite a treat in this house). Love him. Then I got the sudden motivation to work in the backyard. My goal: to have it in pretty awesome shape by Reese's birthday, 6 weeks away (holy moly, lets skip this revelation for now). So while Reese napped, Elijah and I headed out back. I decided what bushes I wanted Adam to take out and then noticed the fence on the west side of our yard was nearly covered with vines. That's where I decided to start, taking down all the vines. Little did I know that the fence is so old and decrepit, the vines were actually holding it together. As the vines went down, so did the fence posts. Oops. Tonight we had our weekly movie night and watched Gnomeo and Juliet. It was so insanely cute, we loved it.

Oh yes, and the critter guy came and "collected" three visitors from the attic. Yuck.

Feb 2: Drawing a Blank

I am completely drawing a blank as to what happened on this day. So, I did what any modern mom would do, went to my facebook and phone for clues to remind me. Here's what I found: some texts between my friend where we discussed that it was inappropriate to drink wine at 7:30am or 11 am, even though we were both having one of those days. I also found a picture of Elijah at Target in the tool isle. Oh yes, now I remember. I had to get out of the house so we went to our favorite place, Target. If you didn't know, Target is always the answer if you're bored. My son was instantly distracted by the tool isle while we were there and it took major bribing and/or threatening to leave him in order to get him to move. Wow. I'm really sounding like mother of the year with this post, huh? Let me note: I NEVER drink wine when I'm home with the kids. Before noon. I kid. I would NEVER leave my child anywhere in the store. He is always in my sight. To finish it off, I also found a pic of Elijah riding his tricycle. We must have gone for a walk. One of these days I'm going to figure out how to transfer my phone pics to the computer so I can add them to my blog. One day.

Feb 1: First Night of Bible Study

Well I'm starting February off weak. It's really the 8th so I have to jog my memory and blog about the past week! Expect these next 7 posts to be pretty short!

Tonight was the first night of our women's group/bible study/book club/friend therapy. It's awesome because I get to hang out with 3 of my most favorite women. We're reading the book, Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl. I'll be honest, the name of the book sounded a little hokey, but so far it's really good and I can TOTALLY relate to some of her life experiences and thought processes. The only other news I can remember from today is that we had our critter guy come out and "set" the traps in the attic. The food was gone that he left on Monday which means that there is definitely something up there and we're not a bunch of crazy folks.

Jan 31: 1/12 of the year over already!

Well, 2012 is moving right along and we're already finishing up the first month. Guess this year didn't get my request to not let the time pass as quickly as previous years. Rude. Today was Tuesday which means, library day! Story time was great, the lady read books about manners and told the story of Godilocks and the three bears (a favorite). We went for a walk this afternoon where Reese again presistently tried to pick up and eat every leaf she found. Then threw such a fit whenever I picked her up to try and stop her. Did tutoring and made pork chops for dinner with crusted saltine crackers for breading since I couldn't find the breadcrumbs at Target this weekend. They were delicious. Also, Adam's grandma gave us her recliner since she bought new living room furniture. It is the most comfortable chair, I'm in love. I received two phone calls today, one from my uncle and one from my dad. Might not sound exciting, but they are two of my favorite guys on the planet so to hear from  both of them on the same day is pretty awesome. To finish up the day Adam and I watched a new episode of New Girl and it was to die for hilarious. What is with all the tv reruns right now??

Jan 30: Laundry and Visitors

Last night Adam and I got nearly no sleep. He got more than me though, I will note. That is because our lovely attic visitor was being extra noisy right above our beds. Add to that my husband's loud snoring and both kids waking up and it made for a very long night. Adam called the critter control guy today and he came out and set traps and made his game plan for fixing the critters' entryway to our attic. Fingers crossed, we should be evicting our guest this week. We played outside for a little while and it was Reesey's first time getting to walk around and play. It is so sweet, except for her persistence to attempt to eat every leaf she sees. Why, Reese? Why? Elijah and I played a little soccer, we're thinking of signing him up in a toddler league. I think he'll really enjoy it. Plus his bff is going to join too!
