Dancing to Ellen
So Handsome :)

Getting Daisy Kisses

Super excited after he put his shirt through the basketball hoop

it's the Final Countdown (dum.. dadudumdumdum)

One week from today... little E turns One Year Old!

#28: His Teston toes. When he was born, I swore that big toe was going to move over to the side to become a foot thumb. Now that they're chubbier, there's a lesser chance of that happening.

#27: His love for sports. You know he didn't get that from his parents! We can thank the Shearouse/Shaves for that... and I do :)

#26: His love for imitation. I scratch my nose, he scratches his nose... Adam hits my foot, Elijah hits my foot... I sing into the spoon, Elijah sings into the spoon... he has become "monkey see, monkey do". It's wonderful, but also makes us realize how much we have to start watching what we do and say!

#25: His ability to find humor in anything.

#24: His boyness. Includes making a mess, loving dirt, running, climbing, farting, TV... it starts early.

#23: The way he throws a ball.

#22: The way he "sings".

#21: His "Maniac" dance. You know the one... from Flashdance. He's MASTERED it. We're very proud.

#20: His creativity. I love giving him objects and seeing what he will do with it. More than likely it will be one of the following: eat it, put it on his head, or make noise with it.

#19: His hugs.

#18: His eyes. We're still not sure if they'll stay, but here we are a year later and they are such a beautiful dark blue. Thank you to our Dads for that.

#17: His bed head.

#16: His ability to suck the cheese off a piece of chicken, and then spit the chicken out.

#15: His early love for cleaning. He loves to pick up trash, push the vacuum, and when he's done eating he loves to swipe his plate clean. Although the food then scatters to the floor, he's done a great job at cleaning off is plate :)

#14: The way he answers a "phone" whenever he hears a ringing sound. It's always Daddy on the other end.

#13: His love for walks (something he gets from me!).

#12: The way he tries to put all his toys through his basketball hoop.

#11: His love for music. I especially love when he tries to turn on his radio in his room, ends up pushing it off the table onto the floor and then looks at you like, "what? Didn't I do it right?"

#10: He already has the ability of "selected hearing". I was hoping this was a skills he wouldn't learn for a few more years, but alas, he has.

#9: The way his feet look in his little shoes.

#8: His shyness when he first meets people (another mom trait!).

#7: He calls everything he sees and likes, either "cat" or "ball".

#6: His dog impressions.

#5: His snort.

#4: His love for swimming.

#3: His eyebrows. They are so light and blond, I didn't think he had any when he was born.

#2: How he hates to get dressed after getting a bath, even though it's the SAME routine every night. I can always look forward to a challenge at after-bath time.

#1: The number one thing I love about Elijah... he's made me a mom. Not just in the biological sense, but he has taught me what it is to love unconditionally. Having him has given me a lesson on faith that could not be learned any other way. He has taken Adam and I from a couple to a family. He gives me purpose. He is my motivation to give each day my best. I strive to be a better person because of him. He has changed my life in every way and I am unbelievably grateful.

List Continuation

Oy! I've been so busy enjoying my little one, I haven't had time to tell you all the things I love about him :)

#34 His love for animals. He has learned to say "cat", "dod" (dog), and "daths" (Daisy).

#33 His love for food. His favorites: mac n cheese, grilled cheese, cheese quesadillas... pretty much anything with cheese.

#32 His pouty face. His little lips all pucked out when he gets frustrated with things is the cutest form of aggravation ever.

#31 His love for his Daddy. Whenever he sits in his chair to eat he stares at the window until Adam comes home. As soon as he sees his truck, it's all smiles.

#30 His listening skills. I am, by far, the luckiest parent alive. My child, at not even a year old, it beginning to understand and follow rules. So far he's much like a dog. He knows the basic commands; "come", "get your ball". :)

#29 His adventures in climbing. All he wants to do these days is climb. On the furniture, toys, the dog, you name it. I believe he thinks everything in the world's sole purpose is for his entertainment.

Dressing up like Daddy

One of Elijah's favorite new things to do: put on other's clothes.
Here he is in Daddy's shirt and shoes.
Love him.

Sweet Child of Mine

Tonight was, hands down, one of my favorite nights being a mom. After dinner (mac n' cheese of course) Elijah and I were playing in the living room and E found his Mickey Mouse. He was so excited and grabbed it to take with him around the house. Watching him I see he keeps putting his mouth around MM's nose (little E's way of giving kisses). I call him over to give me kisses and guess what? HE DOES! It was the sweetest, lovliest, wettest thing ever :) For the next hour Adam and I called him back and forth to give us kisses. Definately my #37. As I continued to watch him play I realized that he grew up today. I'm not sure what happened but sometime between yesterday and tonight, he turned into a real little person. So here's my #36. Elijah has a small bouncy ball (you know those HUGE ones they have at the stores that you can't fit your arms around? Well, like that but only much smaller.) He took that ball and threw it up and down the hall. Here's the "kicker"... sometimes he would walk up to the ball and accidentally kick it before he could pick it up. At first it was by mistake but then it turned into a game. He would kick or throw the ball and then clap and smile. Then he got real adventurous and attempted to pick up and hold the ball with one hand. To my surprise, he did! Just watching him learn something right in front of my eyes was the most amazing thing to see. To finish off my list for tonight #35. Elijah loves positive attention. Tonight while he was playing, whenever he would drop the ball he was clap at himself, then look over to make sure I was clapping with him. If I wasn't he would clap at me until I joined in. Once I did he would grow a huge smile and do it again. His smile is infectious and it's as if he knows it. He wants people to be happy with him. He enjoys seeing others happy. Again, such sweetness.
