House pictures!

So, even though my house is not completely organized, clean and set up, if I don't post some pictures, certain family members might disown me. :)

Hi. My name is Erin and I'm an adult.

Have you ever woke up and realized, "Holy baloney, I'm grown up." It seriously seems like last week my life consisted of homework, lacrosse games and organizing cards at Hallmark. But in reality, last week consisted of the start of my first born's swim lessons, hanging up pictures in the house we just bought and celebrating my husband of five years' first Father's Day with our son AND daughter. Wait just a minute. That all sounds like things that grown ups do, and I'm still just a kid... right? So here's one of my biggest challenges of being an adult...

You've heard the saying, "children don't come with an instruction manual". Which is, of course, very true. You don't realize how true until you have children of your own. An instruction manual would be nice, but each child is different so I'm thinking, it might be a little unreliable. So how about a book of things not to do. To avoid. Remember the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days? How about How to Royally Screw Up Your Child in 18 Years. That would be helpful. And here's my first topic suggestion: threats. Don't freak out! I'm not talking about scary ones. But here's what I've learned from experience.

-Threat that works: "If you're not good, Santa won't bring you any presents." Behavior usually improves, even if just momentarily, until the next Santa reminder.
-Threat that doesn't: (After hearing sirens outside) "That's the nap police that are coming to get you if you don't go take a nap." Cue hysterical and panicked freakout.

Oh yeah. I'm still having to play recon and teach E that the police are good guys and the ones to go to when you need help. Oops.

So to my child I say, sorry kid. I'm just an adult. I don't have all the answers. One day you'll be a grown up & a parent, have no idea what you're doing and make little mistakes like that too. Maybe by then there will be a what-not-to-do type of manual for you.

Father's Day

Hope all you dad's out there had a wonderful Sunday.
We had a great day celebrating
and I hope Adam felt super loved and appreciated by his wife and kiddos.

We had sausage roll & iced coffee for breakfast,
followed by church
and the afternoon was spent with Adam
loving on his children while I cleaned up and made dinner
for him and family.

Gift

Dinner: Grilled steak, loaded mashed potatoes, spinach casserole, corn fritters and frozen rolls (Adam's favorite).
Sorry the pic was taken half way through my meal!
For dessert we had Red Velvet cake balls
& homemade chocolate chip cookie / choc chip ice cream sandwiches.

3 Months

Reese...
Reesey bug; baby bug; bugaboo...
Reesey Pieces; Peanut Butter Cup; Reesey Pie...
Sister; Baby Girl; Princess...
In just a few short months, you sure have accumulated quite a list of nicknames.
We love you so unbelievably much.
You are such a HAPPY baby! :)
You're smile is ridiculous.
It starts on one side, continues to the other
and before you know it your whole face,
(as well as the rest of ours in the room)
is lit up.

At three months you...
*Sleep pretty well at night. You eat around 10-ish and then not again until around 6:30.
(However I will note that you do wake up during that time... usually just for toots!:)
*Are starting to hold you head up when you're on your belly... but you do not like laying on your belly.
*Smile EVERYTIME we smile at you.
*Love your "Coo-ing" time with Daddy.
*Only laugh silently.
*Love your swing and mobile.
*Are still very tiny & are just starting to wear your 0-3 month size clothes.
*Get too mesmerized by the camera to smile when I break it out.
*Are REALLY into chewing on your hands these days.
*Loved even more than you were last month.

Elijah Boy...
You my sweet, hilarious boy,
started swim lessons this month.
Wow. What an experience.
The class lasts two weeks (we're in the 2nd week now)
for 30 mins a day, 4 days a week.
The ENTIRE first week you cried.
Then, at yesterday's class, all of a sudden, no tears.
Yay!
You like being in the water and practicing your kicks,
but you loath going under water.
Even when class is over & I ask how you liked it, you'll respond with
"I don't want to go under water!"
This weekend you and I are going to celebrate all your hard work
with a trip to Aquatica!
I can't wait.
I miss our time just the two of us.
You really love our new house
& always refer to it as such.
You love your room,
your sister, your cars, Play-Doh,
frozen blueberry waffles, "chocolate bread" (Nutella),
taking baths in the big tub,
and the movie Bolt ("Dog lost his Mommy").
& I love you :)

We're home :)

The past few weeks have been such a blur of cleaning, packing, painting, moving, unpacking...
but...
We're officially moved in!

I actually have everything unpacked with the exception of photos for the walls. Elijah's room is the only one though that's ''done'': organized, pics & shelves up, etc.

Happy Birthday Aunt Karlie!

The idea for these photos was going to be super cute.
Of course, with a toddler and infant,
things seldom go as planned.
