Right this moment I should be singing at the top of my lungs to Brad Paisley, right next to my friend Karlie, celebrating our 10th Friendiversary.
What? You don't celebrate the anniversaries of which you met your closest friends? Well. You should. We should be too for that matter (curse you stomach flu!).
So let's take a trip down memory lane
.
.
.
It was Sept 8, 2001 and a group of teenagers decided to go see a movie at Point Orlando. I don't remember what movie and I don't remember who else was there. But I do remember that Karlie and I went upstairs and found an economical entrance to the theater. Ok. We snuck in. I know, I know... bad. But move past it... I mean it was ten years ago. Back to the story... the night we became buds and just like that, the next day we were bffs.
Adorable, no?
So this post goes out to my partner in crime of 10 years...
Karlie,
I'm grateful blogs don't show how long it takes someone to write something because good gosh... this one's taking a while. When I think back over the last ten years, I don't even know where to start. There are so many memories, inside jokes, pictures that just flood my head. Becoming friends with you was quite possibly one of the easiest things that I've ever done. We just fit into each others lives so well. I remember when you moved to Ft Walton. We had only been friends for what, six months? I felt like I was losing my best friend from birth. It's pretty awesome to think that in those six months we started this lifelong friendship. I'm so grateful that when I look at that picture I don't tell people, "Oh, that was this girl I knew in high school." Although... thinking back at how crazy weird we were, maybe we just knew that we had to stick together. I found a scrapbook that I had started making after I came to visit you the summer after you moved and there's a page filled with all these inside jokes. I laughed as I read them thinking about how they all started. And then there were some that I have no idea where, how or why? It is no wonder you mom questioned our "high smartness"... I'd probably think we were on something too.
So are you ready to revisit our high school goofiness (to those of you reading this, don't try to figure out the meanings of these... you are most likely wrong.)
* Peanut Butter * He is a funky hunky chunky monkey yellow polka dot bikini * Catfight * Omigosh, who wrecked the freshman hall? * Happy New Year! * Sorry, we're not like that. * Campbell's soup... mmm mmm good * Love that chicken from Popeye's * Michigan Hoes baby * SHEEP * Escayo * Oreo Kookie * We got that high smartness * Hey ladies * I love my Ford Mustang * I love you beads * Oh yeah, we're babes * Definitely * Fletcher * I'm Sarah, & I'm Vanessa * Karlie and Erin are hot mamas *
Thanks for being my friend for ten years. I really admire you and I feel very fortunate to have you as a friend. You are the strongest person I know. You are kind and funny and an incredible mother. You are honest about who you are. You really live life. You're just plain awesome. I hope when Reese grows up she has a Karlie too.
Oh, and for the record Fletcher is still a Fletcher, Campbell's soup is still mmm mmm good and Karlie and Erin are definitely hot mamas.
PS, as I was writing this I was somehow reminded of the smell of the hall in Tara Oaks. Weird.
