This blog just make take the award for the longest time it's taking me to write (we're going on 10 days). I have three excuses for this:
1. I'm just not ready to accept the fact that half of Reese's first year is over. HALF.
2. Every day she's learning something new so I have to update my updates.
3. I discovered Pintrest and it is beyond addicting.
So without further delay (unless of course, the bug wakes up from her nap)...
It is crazy to think that half a year has passed since our little Reesey entered the world. Hands down, best six months of my life, spending every day with these two.
Reese, at 6 months you are...
- 14 lbs 2 oz (25th percentile)
- 26 inches long (50th percentile)
- Can say "mama", although not actually to call me
- Army crawling everywhere, following your brother and stealing his blocks.
- Your first tooth has broke through! I tried to photograph it but it's just barely poking out and you can't really see anything yet.
- Can sit up by yourself, although a bit wobbly
- Love to snuggle up to your blanket and watch your mobile when going to sleep
- Still have blue eyes and brown hair, although your hair is lightening a little
- Are ticklish on your inner thighs
- Loving baby food. You chow down at mealtimes. You like most everything except things with meat.
Reesey Bug,
This age is perfect. Perfect. Please stop growing now. You may very well be my last baby and I'd like to enjoy this stage for just a bit longer. I joke that I'm not going to let you grow up fast. I thought I'd be able to find ways to prevent you from rolling over, crawling, walking; but now that you are beginning to do these things I'm thinking you're just going to do it when you want. You're already trying to figure out how to pull up on things. You love us so much, me, you daddy and especially Elijah. All day long you want to be with him and around him and playing with his toys. Seriously, I can pour out dozens of baby toys on the floor and the only thing you will want is what your brother has. I can't believe it is starting this young. He loves you back though so no worries. You have us smitten and I don't think that's going to change. Love you bug.
Elijah,
Hello handsome :) I just want to share with you a few things you do/say that make me smile. The other day I got out of the shower and you came over and smelled my hair and said, "mmm, your hair smells good. Like cauliflower." When we play pirates, you say "Atoy matey." You sing "Row, row, row your boat, gently down the street." You draw the same picture over and over: a circle with lines coming down the bottom, but each time it's something new: a rain cloud, an octopus, a jellyfish and yesterday it was a balloon with lots of strings. When you notice two objects of the same color you say, "I just remembered! These are the same!" Whenever your sister cries you tell her, "It's ok Reesey, I'm right here." It is very sweet and melts my heart. You are obsessed with commercials. You love the one for Disney water parks that shows all the characters and the Bright House commercial where the guy's at the superstore and pulls out the gigantic package of paper towels ("Look at that HUGE toilet paper!" as you say). You talk like a grown up sometimes - "Hold on a sec, I have to put on my socks.", "Look at me in the eyes, I have to tell you something.", "Just calm down everybody." Whenever you get in trouble you get say and say, "Don't be mad at me mommy, I'm your best friend." Well, how could I stay mad at that? You make me smile every single day. Even on the bad ones when you drive me so crazy I want to pull out my hair (ahem... today). I love you more and more every second.
