Jan 3: This mom succeeds at fooling her family

Jan 3: My kid is not a terrible eater. But, he's not a great eater either. He eats fruits and veggies but it's always the same ones. Bananas, apples, oranges, grapes, carrots, corn and occasionally a piece of broccoli or a couple peas. I'd seen Jessica Seinfeld on Anderson Cooper and was quite intrigued by her idea of hiding fruit and vegetable purees in food. My sweet, sweet husband gave me one of her books for Christmas so today I made my first dish. I started making homemade macaroni and cheese a few months back. My kid LOVES mac-n-cheese but the box kind is 1) not good for him and 2) doesn't go far. Home made is well worth the extra time! The only problem: he won't eat it. Don't ask me why I decided to deceive my child by hiding vegetables in a dish he already doesn't like but I did. I steamed and pureed some cauliflower today (he helped) and added a couple heaping spoon fulls into my sauce. I let him pick out our vegetable for dinner (he picked corn, of course). He ate all his corn and then... every single noodle. I was shocked. Even my husband didn't notice there was cauliflower in it. So two servings of vegetables for dinner. Score 1 for mom.

And in case you're wondering what the bug does while I cook:
